Assessment Team Invites Public Comment—Casper, Wyoming (November 22, 2022)
A site-based assessment team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement
Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will arrive virtually on December 5, 2022, to examine all aspects
to the Casper Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Chief McPheeters annouced to the Media.
Verification by the assessment team that the Casper Police Department meets the
Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation—”CALEA
Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of excellence in public safety professionals and it
represents the gold standard in law enforcement for verifying that a police department is
committed to, and achieving, the highest standards for providing police services to our
community.” Chief McPheeters said. As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members
of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on December 5, 2022, at 5:00 PM. The session will be conducted in the City Council Chambers. The session will be conducted in the City Council Chambers located at
If, for some reason, an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone.
The public may call 307-235-8408 on December 6, 2022, starting at 2:00 PM and ending at 4:00 PM.
Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA Standards. The Casper Police Department has to comply with 180 standards to gain accredited status.
The accreditation process is a four-year cycle, during which the agency must submit annual reports, and participate in annual, remote, web-based assessments attesting to continued compliance with the standards under which it was initially accredited.
